Project Sunset (gadisar lake jaisalmer)
Project Sunset (@gadisarlake @jaisalmer)
Gadisar Lake is one of the most important tourist attractions in Jaisalmer, @Rajasthan, North India. Its charm lies in the fact that it was the only source of water for the Jaisalmer city in the olden days.
A manmade reservoir, the Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan was constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer. In the later years Maharaja Garisisar Singh rebuilt and revamped the lake.
Gadisar Lake tours transports you into a different world altogether. You feel captured in a pleasant time warp.
Artistically carved Chattris, Temples, Shrines and Ghats surround the banks of Gadisar Lake Jaisalmer. Located towards the south of Jaisalmer city the entrance to the Gadisar Lake or Garsisar Tank is through a magnificent and artistically carved yellow sandstone archway that is known as the Tilon-Ki-Pol. See rare migratory birds that stop for a drink at the lustrous Gadisar Lake that reflects the mellow yellow of the picturesque sandstone banks; enjoy a boat ride on the lake or just sit on any of the Ghats and see the yellow sandstone banks change hues of ochre with the setting sun, a delightful panorama that you would not miss for the world.

Project Sunset (Chhatri #jaisalmer)
Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh (literally Big Garden) is a garden complex about 6 km north of Jaisalmer on way to Ramgarh, and halfway between Jaisalmer and Lodhruva in the state of Rajasthan in India. It contains a set of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris of Maharajas of Jaisalmer state, starting with Jai Singh II (d. 1743)Wednesday, October 23, 2013
Project Sunset ( #Jaisalmer )
Project Sunset
It is always a pleasant experience, but today i found a different view towards sunset, i have been visiting different sites and points of jaisalmer during sunset and every time i found it to be best then previous one... it does not gave me a point to re visit or re think about previous sunset... it only replace your previous memories, it added it's own place :)
MoolSagar Jaisalmer:
Situated 8 K.M. west of Jaisalmer, this is another pleasant, but rather neglected, small garden and tank. It belongs to the Royal family of Jaisalmer and was originally built as a cool summer retreat. The major attraction of this place is a Shiva temple, which is said to be constructed out of just two large blocks of sandstones.

Chhatri
Chhatris are elevated, dome-shaped pavilions used as an element in Indian architecture. Chhatris are commonly used to depict the elements of pride and honor in the Rajput architecture of Rajasthan. They are widely used, in palaces, in forts, or to demarcate funerary sites. Originating in Rajasthani architecture where they were memorials for kings and royalty, they were later adapted as a standard feature in all buildings in Rajasthan, and most importantly in Mughal architecture. They are today seen on its finest monuments, Humayun's Tomb in Delhi and the Taj Mahal in Agra. Chhatris are basic element of Hindu as well as Mughal architecture. The term "chhatri" (Hindi: छतरी) means umbrella or canopy.
In the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, chhatris are built on the cremation sites of wealthy or distinguished individuals. Chhatris in Shekhawati may consist of a simple structure of one dome raised by four pillars to a building containing many domes and a basement with several rooms. In some places, the interior of the chhatris is painted in the same manner as the Havelis (Mansions) of the region.
