Trip to Rajasthan

Gadsisar Lake

A evening view of Lake
This place was selected because it had a certain amount of declivity already and it automatically retained some of the rainwater. If you are lucky and venture out in winters, you might get to see a variety of migratory birds. Due to its proximity to Bharatpur, some of the birds get attracted to this place also. Don't miss to carry a good pair of binoculars and SLR camera with a wide-angle lens if you want to take away some really mesmerizing snaps

Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh (literally Big Garden) is a garden complex about 6 km north of Jaisalmer on way to Ramgarh, and halfway between Jaisalmer and Lodhruva in the state of Rajasthan in India. It contains a set of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris of Maharajas of Jaisalmer state, starting with Jai Singh II (d. 1743)

In doing so he fulfilled an ancient prophecy that Lord Krishna predicted and said to Arjuna , when the Pandavs were in exile that my descendants would one day establish their capital here .

"Maharawal Brijraj Singh ji" 43rd ruler of Jaisalmer has converted Jawahar Niwas Palace, this marvel into a beautiful heritage hotel .Today it has open its gates and welcomes you to be a part of this legacy which has been seen & enjoyed by many dignitaries like , the Royalties , British Viceroys , the First President and Prime Minister of India and very well renowned artists , actors like M.F. Project Sunset

It is always a pleasant experience, but today i found a different view towards sunset, i have been visiting different sites and points of jaisalmer during sunset and every time i found it to be best then previous one... it does not gave me a point to re visit or re think about previous sunset... it only replace your previous memories, it added it's own place :)

MoolSagar Jaisalmer:

Situated 8 K.M. west of Jaisalmer, this is another pleasant, but rather neglected, small garden and tank. It belongs to the Royal family of Jaisalmer and was originally built as a cool summer retreat. The major attraction of this place is a Shiva temple, which is said to be constructed out of just two large blocks of sandstones.

Jaisalmer Fort

Jaisalmer Fort is one of the largest forts in the world. It is situated in Jaisalmer city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built in 1156 AD by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rao Jaisal, from where it derives it name. The fort stands proudly amidst the golden stretches of the great Thar Desert, on Trikuta Hill, and has been the scene of many battles. Its massive yellow sandstone walls are a tawny lion color during the day, fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow desert. For this reason, it is also known as the “Golden Fort”. This fort, popularly known as the 'Sonar quila' by the locals, is located in the very heart the city, and is one of the most breathtaking monuments in the locality.

Chowmahalla palace: Front View

History

While Salabat Jung initiated its construction in 1750,[3] it was completed by the period of Afzal ad-Dawlah, Asaf Jah V, the V Nizam ensured its completion between 1857 and 1869.
It is believed to be modelled on Shah of Iran's palace in Tehran.

The palace is unique for its style and elegance. Building of the palace began in the late 18th century and over the decades a synthesis of many architectural styles and influences emerged.

This palace consists of two courtyards, southern courtyard and northern courtyard. They have elegant palaces, the grand Khilwat (the Durbar Hall), fountains and gardens.

The palace originally covered 45 acres (180,000 m2), but only 14 acres (57,000 m2) remain today.

Qutb Shahi Tombs

No comments:

The tombs form a large cluster and stand on a raised platform. The tombs are domed structures built on a square base surrounded by pointed arches, a distinctive style that blends Persian, Pashtun and Hindu forms. The tombs are structures with intricately carved stonework and are surrounded by landscaped gardens.
The tombs were once furnished with carpets, chandeliers and velvet canopies on silver poles. Copies of the Quran were kept on pedestals and readers recited verses from the holy book at regular intervals. Golden spires were fitted over the tombs of the sultans to distinguish their tombs from those of other members of the royal family.
